Trump going to court again today, he is weaponising all these court cases, getting free publicity, garnering sympathy because he is seen as being victimised , he also gets $millions in contributions every time he goes to court.
Last night the last 2 Republican wannabes ripped into each other in front of a small crowd in Des Moines...Trump did another one man show in front of his supporters,he got rapturous applause and was shaking hands for 10 minutes after the event...

I'll reiterate that I am no Trump supporter. However we've discussed this many times on this forum. The Dems are handing the next election on a plate to Trump with these ridiculous court cases that are obviously politically motivated. He is lapping it up and getting free publicity that he would never have got before. These cases also provide support to his claim of 'giving it to the big man' in his fight against the establishment. These court cases only provide a smoke screen and stops people looking at his real failings, and it's the Dems who are providing this smoke screen. As for the Dems they are in trouble. It is obvious that Biden will not run again. The old bloke has lost his marbles and it is painful to see that he is just not physically or mentally able to do the job. There doesn't seem to be a Democrat in the background to step in. Kamela Harris would be a disaster if she ran. Their only hope is to persuade Michelle Obama to run, but I don't think she wants to. Or maybe they are thinking to make him run, and when/if elected he'd quickly step down to let his vice-president (whoever that may be) take over. US politics is in a mess. UK politics is in a mess. European politics is in a mess. Something somewhere has to change.

Let's just hope that people do not turn to demagogues (like Trump) for the way forward.

In 2017 a left wing American journalist was interviewed on Radio4, the BBC person was wringing their hands (probably) and asking in an anguished voice why had people voted for Trump ? and (hopeful voice) were they regretting it ? The American woman said something along the lines of 'you dont realise how much a lot of people in America hate politicians and Washington (the government) voting for Trump is their way of sticking up their middle finger to the establishment' I can see the logic in that. Apart from having an ex president as her husband I dont know anything about Michelle Obama or what she stands for, her husband wasnt a great president though so no help from him. The negative about her would be that she could be seen as a Hillary Clinton type,I remember that slimeball husband of hers looking into the camera with his insincere smile and saying "its Hillarys turn now"....wrong again slick Willy. Americans have had these family dynasties before, the dodgy Kennedys, the Bush's I doubt that Hunter Biden will run for office though (he has the right qualifications so maybe he will) I would have liked Billy Carter to have had a go.

But when the 'acceptable' political parties are so inept, what are people to do?

Nichelle Obama has very limited political experience. She would be the ideal Democratic nominee though as she is a woman of colour. It ticks all the right boxes.

Trump got more votes in Iowa than all the rest of the candidates added together...now he will get the people who intended to vote for Ramaswamy (?) too.
I dont like Trump as a person but its not a popularity contest, the World is on the verge of armageddon and I think that Trump and his willingness to meet controversial leaders and his hatred of war is the most likely to sort things out

He only, and quite rightly, pointed out that the US will not carry the financial burden forever to protect Europe and that European countries needed to increase their defence spending.

I get that and I am sympathetic to that view. But, but don't those who demanded we leave the EU have a hissy fit when the suggestion of a joint European defence force was mooted? Because if the Americans pull away, that is surely the only we could defend ourselves?

This use of Putin as a threat to Britain is ridiculous, there is no way he could invade Britain, the Russian navy would be incapable of getting their troops here, its a red herring that they use to get us back into a European institution like a 'European army' . As I pointed out the other day Britain became embroiled in WW1 because of a treaty guaranteeing Belgian neutrality, Britains involvement in WW2 was a similar treaty with Poland....we should learn from this and become a (strongly) armed neutral country,we have nukes, we are an island, all thats needed is a defence plan and a mixture of local territorial units and regular forces.....an upgraded anti missile similar to Bloodhound.

Well then If we have no need to need to be concerned by a despotic in Russia, one who has already stated that he would like to recreate a "Russian Empire", then there is little point in maintaining the level of military that we do, surely? Shades of 1936 methinks

I thought that I said strongly armed...and i see that I did,not much point in declaring neutrality if you cant defend yourself,Switzerland a good example, cant remember the last war they were in. I dont remember Britain being part of the 'Russian empire' the nearest they ever got to Britain with an army was Paris.

Hopefully trump wins the next election , feel sorry for them having to put up with the plastic paddy , trump is very patriotic, pity he’s not English , and he said he will deal with Iran Though hopefully by the time he becomes next president Pakistan & the terrorists will have blown each other to bits

We all know that Iran want atomic weapons. However, I reckon that if Iran get close to developing nuclear weapons that Israel will strike first! The Red Sea pedestrians will not wait until Iran hits them first. We know that Israel hit the nuclear reactor complex in Iraq before it became fully functional. They'll do the same in Iran. Once again the world will heap abuse on Israel, but once again, they will be doing the world a huge favour. Can you imagine Iran with nuclear weapons? They'll be lobbing them around everywhere via their proxy's! It's very difficult to fight against an occult that welcomes death, and that is exactly what the one flavour of Islam is !
