I think I heard Mansell scream "get him off" to the bench but admittedly, I may have misheard him. I dont think you did. What i did hear from Stewart i think was some interesting & ripe comments about the ref....

Possibly the worst defensive performance for many a year Monkhouse was a complete joke the front 2 looked good up against a very very poor defence think we will be stuffed on Monday if we play like that again agree defense was poor which I thought haven been solid last year would do well this BUT for me Lockyer looked terrible at RB and parks looked like he was on a come down from god knows what and before u all say well he headed well and he made some inportant blocks for me he looked slow and very agitated and doesn't command the back four very well. There were also times where there were no communication between keeper and defence! Bright sparks for me is that Taylor look a footballer and I felt for him a bit because of lack of service!! Trottman looks like with a few regular games could be very solid and I think when ellis came on all be it for a short time thinks he's just gunna have a laugh with a few defenders which will maybe a good thing as I don't think he really cares. All in all we desperately needed 3 points today and got it but I feel we will get a hiding come Monday and I'm sorry to sound all doom and gloom but for 60 minutes we were very poor! UTG Yep agree with that

Parkes made numerous mistakes, and Lockyer should be either CB or CM I think.

Why does Lee Brown stop running when in possession of the ball. Would love to see him bomb down the wing a swing a cross in Micheal Smith style than continually stopping and taking all the momentum out of an attacking opportunity.

Grateful for the 3 points but have to say it is not easy when playing against a team who just come to slow every bit of the game down an d iritate both the players and the crowd. I am afraid in this league we are going to have to put up with that and also I think the referee wilkl favour the "smaller" clubs especially where there is a big crowd (big in this leagues terms) Don't agree with these who say we will take a thumping on Monday. A local derby might be just what we need to bring out the best. Myself despite his goal I am not at all convinced that Clarke is up to the task and our midfield look like neither him or Mansell really want the ball.

This.
I couldn't actually believe what I was witnessing first half. Marginally better after the goal but, really, that was a sh*tfest.
Going to have to step things up a lot to avoid a real humiliation at Forest Green.*
At least we know that there is at least one team worse than us. Hopefully there are three others.

I thought Monkhouse one of our best players.Calm and knows what to do with the ball. Wow. Gotta say I thought he was dreadful. Literally baffled he stayed on the whole game. Midfield was totally non-existent and Mansell is the only actual player we've got who knows what to do with the ball, i.e. how to keep it. Monkhouse seemed to always turn around and go back when in possession, especially when we were trying to counter attack sharply and it was infuriating at times. On the whole, first half was shocking. After the goal came the whole team seemed more relaxed and calm going forward, which allowed more free-flowing football and we played some decent stuff on the ground at times. Second half was definitely more encouraging but I think we were still extremely average for the most part, against a poor side. Much improvement needed but hopefully the first three points on the board will give the lads a much-needed confidence boost. UTG

UTG i do agree monkhouse hasn't been as direct as what darrel Clarke said when he first signed him. I think he was quoted as saying " andy is a old fashioned winger who loves to attack the FB " but interms of mansel well I thought he was poor too and I will be glad to see Sinclair back who IMO closes down the play better than anyone else we have. I still believe it was not another striker we need but a link man in midfield to bring that creativity that we lack but I don't think we we see that sort of singing now

Well pissed off with what we have become. A wet blanket in some respects.
For a brand new conference side, with a newish team, I don't think we look too bad.
We had most the whole game, 2nd was all us, excepting a few moments. The crowd today seemed as if they came to berate and did so as early as possible.
For the first half, every little mistake was pounced on by some fans. On the dribuild, I was the only one clapping good play and attempts, or so it seemed.
These are not the heroes of 90, not even the 2007 side. They aren't as bad as some would have.
For the record:
We are no more hoofball than anyone in L2 or conf. You have to play % in these leagues. In fact I am seeing an intention to play football, more so than ward.
The team, whilst not challengers for promotion, work harder than many rovers teams for a good while.
The team has better balance than last year.
Crowd piped up once we scored. Sing when your winning.
The way they kept their cool, ignoring an edgy crowd, and still tried flicks and clever stuff impressed me. Playing in front of us makes players play safe, not take risks and get beaten.
Many say we at rovers take too much s***, blindly support rubbish etc etc. I say we stopped that years ago, and our bad attitude is holding us back (still, root cause is mismanagement). I feel as pissed off as anyone, but on match day you turn up and play. That includes us.
Imagine how opposition teams feel when our cms or attackers lose the ball, and the home side groans are louder than their own fans cheers!
Even after a win, were still writing them off, moaning? Wtf? I say well done team gas!
Rant over.
Up the gas.

I think everyone on this thread is being a bit harsh. It was vital we got 3 points today and we managed to grind out a result. Telford were a poor side admittedly, but we should have been two up at half time (Trottman hit the bar when it was eaier to hit the target). We kept plugging away despite a shocking ref and persistent attempts by Telford to slow the game down witrh their time wasting and we eventually got the goal we deserved.
Wasnt imnpressed with the new striker Cunningham and Martin had a poor game - they dont look like the players we are looking for. On the plus side I thought Harrison looked lively when he came on - despite his attitude problem I think we should give him more game time because he looks like he can change a game at this level. We have nobody else that can do this.

Trotman is a good aerial battler but when the ball is on the ground I don't have much faith in him to you know... defend

confidence is so important in football, we saw a great improvement immediately after we scored with players all of a sudden playing the ball to feet. Lets hope we can build on this and confidence will rise further and maybe so will our performances. Before the goal we were pretty awful though. but today was all about 3 points, so just grateful for the result
